*Triage Team

MISSION STATEMENT:

To treat any patient with testicular cancer who presents or wishes to be seen at Johns Hopkins in a timely fashion.

Treatment can include any stage of disease from the clinically localized, early-stage patient to locally advanced and/or metastatic disease.  Treatment includes management of oncologic issues and consideration of fertility, quality-of-life and survivorship.  A timely fashion implies that all involved team members pledge to have each patient initiate treatment within two weeks of presentation

The process will involve review of the case by the triage team who determine primary service (urology or medical oncology), the subsequent care needed, contact necessary members of the team and facilitate initiation of treatment.  The triage team will then contact members of the adjunct services only as needed.

To be properly evaluated by the GO-TEAM, a patient should have:

  • Imaging (scrotal ultrasound preferable) demonstrating a solid, vascular mass of the testicle.
  • Tumor marker blood tests (HCG, AFP, LDH)

OR

  • A history of testicular cancer with radiographic or serum evidence of recurrence.

For an assessment by the GOTEAM, please call Dr. Pierorazio or Heather Gausepohl at 410 502 5984.
