The field of robotic-assisted surgery has come to the forefront of urologic surgery in the past few years. Advances in computer technology, digital equipment, and sophisticated robotic instrumentation offer the potential for improvements in the precision of minimally-invasive surgical procedures.

Several members of the Brady Urological Institute are currently evaluating the utility of robotic-assisted surgery using the daVinci® Surgical System (Intuitive Surgical Inc., Sunnyvale, CA) in several disciplines of urology including:

• Prostate cancer (Robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy)
• Kidney cancer
• Ureteropelvic junction obstruction (Robotic-assisted pyeloplasty)
• Female urology
• Pediatrics
